Michael Mancienne believes Wolves team-mate Matt Jarvis should be called into the England squad for the friendly against France at Wembley on Wednesday.
England manager Fabio Capello names his squad on Saturday evening, with Jarvis among the players being tipped to receive a first international call-up.
"He's been on fire for us," Mancienne told BBC WM. "He's been playing really well and he deserves that chance."
Steve Bull was the last Wolves player to represent the full England team.
The last of former striker Bull's 13 international caps came against Poland in October 1990, after he had been part of the squad that finished fourth at the World Cup in Italy earlier that year.
Mancienne, the current England Under-21 captain, received a call-up to the full squad in November 2008 while in his first loan spell at Wolves, although he remained an unused substitute for the 2-1 friendly victory against Germany in Berlin.
"It's a massive boost to your confidence," Mancienne added. "That's what you aim for, that's where you want to be and Jarvis is doing everything right at the moment."
Former Gillingham winger Jarvis has been in sparkling form for Wolves this season, scoring twice in 12 Premier League appearances.
Mick McCarthy's side were beaten 2-0 by Arsenal at Molineux on Wednesday, keeping them second from bottom in the table and three points from safety.
It was another brave performance in which Wolves created a number of clear opportunities to score, but they found Arsenal goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski in top form.
The Poland stopper produced a string of fine saves to keep Wolves at bay with the score at 1-0 and helped create the second Arsenal goal for Marouane Chamakh.
"He's pulled off some world-class saves, especially the one from Christophe Berra at the end," said Mancienne. "He's seen it late and he didn't even palm it out, he kept it close to him. He's done really well."
Wolves boss McCarthy told BBC WM: "He was the man of the match and that tells you a lot, I guess. He's kept them in the game.
"He was hopeless for the goal on Sunday [in the 1-0 home defeat against Newcastle] and cost them the game.
"Arsene Wenger kept faith with him and if ever there's a guy that's repaid somebody's faith in him, it's Fabianski. He was fantastic."
